RenoBLOG: When Beauty Starts With What You Don’t See

This shower renovation started with an outdated, worn bathroom — but behind the old tile, we found a much bigger problem.
Years of hidden water damage had destroyed the structure behind the shower. The subfloor was rotted, the framing was weak, and part of the wall had deteriorated so badly that it opened toward the neighbouring unit! This is exactly why bathroom renovations should never be only about “making it look nice.” A shower must be built properly from the inside out.
At Master Works Renovations, we removed the damaged materials, rebuilt the structure, reinforced the floor, prepared the plumbing, installed professional waterproofing, and finished the space with a detailed custom tile installation.
The tile chosen for this project was beautiful, but also one of the most challenging types to install. Its wave pattern required careful planning, precise cuts, and constant attention so the design would flow naturally across the walls. Every line, corner, niche, and grout joint had to be done with patience and accuracy.
The final result is more than a new shower. It is a safe, waterproof, durable, and beautiful space built to last for years.
This project shows what we care about most: honest work, strong preparation, clean finishing, and real craftsmanship.
